Advanced Clinical Dietitian, Athletics Part time

On-site Dietitian

The Advanced Clinical Dietitian, Athletics reflects the mission, vision, and values of Northwestern Medicine, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.

The Advanced Clinical Dietitian, Athletics provides clinical services to patients. This position makes referrals to external clinicians or treatment programs or other community resources, as appropriate and in accordance with established departmental protocol. 

Responsibilities:

  • Provide individual nutrition counseling and medical nutrition therapy services, including nutrition assessment, diagnosis, intervention, monitoring, evaluation, data analysis and documentation
  • Create and provide in person, virtual and written performance nutrition education for individuals, teams, groups and wellness programs
  • Evaluate dietary supplements under the guidelines of the Big Ten, NCAA, USADA and WADA
  • Collaborate with food services providers to develop performance menus and provide accommodations for those with food allergies, intolerances, and special diets
  • Collaborate with sports medicine, sports performance, sports psychology and sport coaches to address individual and group health and performance

Required:

  • Registered dietitian (with active registration through Commission in Dietetic Registration) and ability to obtain Illinois State RD Licensure within 3 months of date of hire
  • Master’s degree in nutrition, exercise physiology, or related field
  • Board Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics (CSSD)
  • ServSafe Certification (required only for football and supervisory position)
  • 3-5 years of experience as a sports dietitian (may accept fewer years of experience if associated with specific applicable sport – i.e. football)
  • 1-2 years of experience treating patients with Eating Disorders (eating disorder position only)

Preferred:

  • Experience with body composition assessment, interpretation and communication
  • Previous Football Experience (football position only)
  • Previous leadership/mentorship experience with dietetic interns and students (supervisory position only)
  • CED-RD Certification (eating disorder program position only)
