Job Summary
Join our team as a Patient Dining Associate and play an important role in supporting the patient experience through excellent food service and customer care. In this role, you will work directly with patients and clinical teams to ensure meals are delivered accurately, safely, and in accordance with each patient's prescribed diet.You will be responsible for coordinating meal orders, preparing and delivering patient trays, assisting patients with menu selections, and providing friendly, compassionate service. Essential Functions
Communicate patient diet orders for each meal to the department Data Center and ensure all diet orders are accurately implemented.
Review patient meal trays to confirm each patient receives the correct meal and diet order.
Obtain and deliver trays for new admissions and for patients whose diet orders have advanced.
Prepare and serve patient meal trays, coffee, tea, and other approved food and beverage items.
Add items such as ice cream and yogurt, garnish trays, and remove food packaging and wrappings before delivery.
Assist patients with opening milk, juice, condiments, and other meal items as needed.
Collect and return used patient meal trays following each meal service.
Provide patients with menu selection sheets and information about daily specials, and explain the meal selection process.
Assist patients who are unable to independently complete their menu selections.
Deliver an excellent patient experience by providing friendly, respectful, and compassionate customer service during every interaction.
Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary galley area after each meal service and complete scheduled special cleaning assignments.
Monitor, inventory, and order nourishments and nutritional supplements for patients between meals or for placement on future meal trays, as assigned.
Remove and properly discard expired or outdated nourishments and supplements.
Inventory and order supplies for nursing nourishment areas as needed.
Pick up supplies from the department Service Center, stock and organize supplies, and rotate perishable items to maintain freshness and proper inventory control.
Communicate with clinical dietitians regarding patient information that may affect a patient's ability or willingness to eat.
Maintain positive and effective working relationships with coworkers, clinical staff, and members of the patient care team.
Build strong rapport with nursing unit staff and collaborate effectively to support patient needs.
May assist with orienting and training new employees within the department.
Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide appropriate service and support based on the age and developmental needs of the patients served.
Apply knowledge of growth and development across the lifespan to recognize and respond appropriately to age-specific patient needs.
Follow all department policies, procedures, food safety standards, infection prevention practices, and patient care guidelines.
Provide support and service in accordance with established department policies and procedures.
